Hampden Sports Clinic - "Quality" - Customer Experience (by Bob Wylie)

We recently caught up with a client who has been using the Sports Clinic recently for pre & post rehab from Hip Surgery. Bob Wylie filled us in on how he "used to hobble up the stairs at the front of Hampden to get to the clinic and dance down them after using the hydro pool."



Originally some years ago I had suffered from lower back pain for an eternity. Been to see all sorts of quacks and comic singers for years but still used to get two or three episodes of acute back pain a year.

Went to Hampden Sports Clinic and got exercises and the use of the hydrotherapy pool and have not had an episode which laid me up / off work for years now.

Hip Problems:

"I developed serious pain problems with my right hip about 2015 - consultant at the Victoria Hospital suggested I might refer myself to the Hampden Sports Clinic (HSC). After three months using the hydro pool and exercise regime in their rehabilitation gym suite, I went back to the Victoria and the consultant could not believe the positive change in the hip condition. Use of the pool and exercises gave me almost four full years of life before the hip operation.

I used to hobble up the stairs at the front of Hampden to get to the clinic and dance down them after using the hydro pool. That allowed me four years golf - I had just joined a new club in 2015. Glasgow Gailes which isn’t cheap so I got the best out of the early years membership thanks to HSC.

Hip Operation:

Total right hip replacement on 1 August 2019. The NHS were very limited in what they could offer post-op rehab, due to waiting lists and demands on the service.

The op was in August and the first NHS review 27 November 2019. I don’t know what I would have done if I could not have accessed Hampden Sports Clinic. I’ve had a few problems in rehab including recent muscle tendonitis in the leg where the hip has been replaced. I would have been unable to recover to this extent without the help of Louise and Alan at the HSC. No problem I had was a problem for the staff at the clinic. Always there would be assurance and then a programme or treatment plan to tackle the issues. Time and again. I’m on the mend now and ready to get back to playing golf. Not bad for an old guy like me. The Sports Clinic is quality!"
