Mental Health in Sport
The Clinic runs the Support Within Sport mental health programme which provides Scotland’s professional footballers and backroom staff quick access to experienced doctors, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists and counsellors.
. . . .
Research carried out by the Clinic has confirmed the increased incidence of mental health issues in sportsmen and women and working with PFA Scotland the programme helps identify those who require mental health support, providing quick and expert clinical help at no cost to the player or staff member.
In addition the Clinic provides input to Scottish FA coach education courses and had developed an e-learning module suitable for all working in football and which will be an integral and compulsory part of ongoing coach education in Scottish football.
The Clinic, together with its partners in sportscotland and Scottish Rugby recently organised a highly successful Mental Health in Scottish Sport conference at Hampden Park, attended by almost 200 delegates who work in sport in Scotland.
